It stands the test of time. I traveled extensively in Africa, especially East Africa in the early 1970s, and Naipaul was one of the first authors I had read who captured what was really going on in Kenya and Tazania during that era (published in 1|About the Author|Shiva Naipaul was born in 1945 in Port of Spain, Trinidad. He was educated at Queen's Royal College and St Mary's College in Trinidad and at University College, Oxford. He married in 1967 and had one son. His books include Fireflies
